Scientists, entrepreneurs recognised for their contributions to Australia in Clunies Ross Awards

Pioneers in the science of mineral exploration and processing have been recognised at the Clunies Ross Awards. Recipients included John Clout who enabled low grade iron ores to be commercial and Bruce Candy regarded as the world ’guru’ of metal detection. Former geologist, Roy Woodall was also recognised for some of Australia’s greatest discoveries including world class bauxite, nickel and uranium deposits in Western Australia and South Australian copper- uranium -gold deposits.
