The Queensland Resources Council Face-to-Face workshop program is designed to provide Queensland teachers and pre-service teachers with practical ideas and the confidence to teach about exploration, extraction, processing and everyday uses of Queensland's minerals and energy resources across relevant areas in the Queensland curriculum.
The program consists of two types of workshops,

  • Face-to-Face Workshops; and
  • Back-2-Basics Workshops.

The workshops are conducted at various centres around the state. Please check the calendar for upcoming workshops.

Face-to-Face Workshops

All Face-to-Face QRC TPD workshops provide teachers with practical ideas and the confidence to teach about exploration, extraction, processing and everyday uses of Queensland's minerals and energy resources across relevant areas in the Queensland curriculum.
Topics Include:

  • Rockin’ Your Classroom
  • Climate Change and Low Emission Technologies
  • Cop-per Squiz at these Great Resources
  • A Low Emission Energy Future
  • Science Rocks
  • Power Hour

The Face-to-Face program can be designed to meet the identified needs of a school or group of teachers. Please contact traceyl@qrc.org.au to organise a Face-to-Face workshop.
Register your interest in hosting a free teacher professional development workshop for your area. All you need is a minimum audience size of 10 teachers. Please provide your school location and prefered TPD topic details to the Manager of Teacher Professional Development traceyl@qmea.org.au.

Back-2-Basics Workshops

The Back-2-Basics program was specifically designed for pre-service teachers and primary teachers. This program provides participants with an understanding of basic scientific concepts, and examples of how they can be applied to the resources sector.
Topics Include:

  • Round and Round the Rock Cycle
  • Climate Change and Low Emission Technologies
  • What Gas is That?

This program is hosted by Brisbane Universities.

South Australian Chamber of Mines and Energy (SACOME) coordinates an annual visit to Boral’s Linwood and Stonyfell quarries. For further information or to register your interest in participating in this opportunity, please contact Emma Hughes (ehughes@sacome.org.au).
