This is a video showing an electric rope shovel being assembled and in operation. Various quantitative details about the shovel, such as operating voltage, mass, capacity and records for volume of overburden shifted are presented. The shovel is shown shifting overburden at Anglo Coal’s Dawson mine in Queensland. To be used in conjunction with the maths worksheets, listed in ‘Related Resources’. Suitable for years 9-12.
