Minerals can be identified based on their physical properties. The main properties used to identify minerals are described in this activity, and students are then asked to identify the ten common ore minerals.
NB Activity works best if students are provided with samples of chalcopyrite, pyrite, bauxite, sphalerite, haematite, magnesite, galena, magnetite, malachite and azurite.
